Clonmel is a hotspot for amateur dramatists, with a good selection of dramatic societies that put on some excellent productions of plays and musicals. The oldest one – the Clonmel Theatre Guild, founded in 1969 – produces three plays per season. Brewery Lane Drama Society puts on three productions, including one youth event, every year. Abbey Mill Theatre in historic Fethard hosts plays and musicals. St. Mary's Choral Society, based in the White Memorial Theatre, Clonmel, produces at least three shows yearly. Between all these, our residents are almost never short of entertainment!

Professional theatre productions are put on in Clonmel by the Galloglass Theatre Company. This reputable group produces dramas largely drawn from the European repertoire, characterised by strong performances and imaginative production style.

The Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society has been entertaining Ireland since 1943! The Society produces two or three shows annually, with each production running for a week to meet heightened public demand. The society’s newly refurbished Strand Theatre is an excellent venue for their productions, which have recently included The Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar, Dick Whittington, and The Little Shop of Horrors.
