Exhibitions are held in our public libraries, arts centres, museums and private art galleries. Local and international artists exhibit their work all year round, many supported by the South Tipperary Art Group (STAG), which is based in Clonmel.

Theatre and Drama are popular right across the county – many towns have their own musical society and brass band. Brú Ború cultural centre, located at the foot of the historic Rock of Cashel, is home to the Brú Ború group, which works hard to promote and continue the tradition of Irish music, song, and dance.

The South Tipperary Arts Service runs an annual programme of events, including the Tipperary Bealtaine Festival – a celebration of creativity for older people – and the Connex programme, planned to encourage younger people to get involved in the arts.

The South Tipperary Arts Centre is a multi-purpose arts venue.
Its work includes:

  • Staging 12 visual arts exhibitions through the year, showcasing the work of local, national, and international artists.
  • Supporting new artists through the 'EMERGE' series of exhibitions.
  • Running the ‘Artist's Collective' group as a weekly platform for professional artists to debate and collaborate. (Members also have access to professional development services.)
  • Delivering a diverse Outreach programme of classes, workshops, and visits to communities and schools across South Tipperary.

The Tipperary Excel Centre includes a theatre, cinemas, art gallery, tourist office, interpretive centre, shop and café. The brand new dance studio offers classes such as salsa, tango and modern dance by professional dance teachers. An exciting new dancer residency programme has been launched at the Tipperary Excel centre in order to develop and promote contemporary dance.
